Fighting continues in Aleppo, causing mass displacement within and outside of the city.

Across the country, the humanitarian situation for thousands of Syrian civilians is dire.

Needs are increasing every day and humanitarian agencies, including the ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent [2], with whom we have been working closely to distribute emergency aid, cannot access all areas affected by the fighting.

Over the last weeks, we and the Syrian Red Crescent have assisted [3] over 125,000 people regardless of their origin, gender, religion or political affliations but today, aid alone is not enough.

"Beyond aid, people need to be safe" says Hicham Hassan, spokesman for the Near and Middle East at ICRC headquarters.
