The Wilson Center's Latin American program is hosting a panel of experts for a discussion about local approaches to improving citizen security in the Andean region and one example from the United States as well. Addressing crime and violence continues to be a top citizen concern in the Americas according to recent polls. While national level security strategies are important, evidence is pointing to more local and more focused strategies designed to address specific public security concerns hold greater promise for reducing crime and violence in communities.
