Key Elements for a Stable Pakistan

  • U.S. Institute of Peace 2301 Constitution Avenue Northwest Washington, DC, 20037 United States

Terrorism, stagnant economic growth and a population in which two-thirds of citizens are under 30 contribute to an array of complex issues facing Pakistan. Despite some political and economic progress, these factors hinder the ability of leaders to focus on long-term regional questions such as broader security and shrinking natural resources. The U.S. Institute of Peace is hosting former Pakistani Finance Minister Shahid Javed Burki and other experts to discuss economic, demographic, climate and security challenges in Pakistan and their implications for U.S. policy.
