Gary brown & mike Durant

Mike Durant is a retired U.S. military pilot and former POW who was held captive in Somalia for eleven days after his Black Hawk helicopter was shot down during the infamous “Battle of Mogadishu” in 1993. In his StoryCorps conversation with fellow veteran and ex-ICRC employee, Gary Brown, Mike recounts the harrowing moments and days he lived through in Somalia. He also talks about Suzanne Hofstetter, the ICRC delegate, who risked her life to visit him in captivity.
