From March 5-7, the ICRC is partnering with The World Bank in Washington, DC for the 2018 World Bank Fragility Forum: Managing Risks for Peace and Stability.
The forum will bring together policy makers and practitioners from the humanitarian, development, peace and security communities to convene ideas and challenges across the sectors. Discussions will include how they can complement and reinforce each other to tackle fragility across a broad spectrum of countries and contexts. Practical solutions will be shared and they will explore innovative ways to improve development approaches to ultimately foster peace and stability.
As the world sees more and more violent conflict, along with it has come historic levels of displacement and humanitarian needs. The ICRC is a leading humanitarian organization working not only on the front lines of the most high profile conflicts, but also in more long-term, protracted conflicts and fragile environments.
The ICRC’s Director General, Yves Daccord is participating in the World Bank’s Fragility Forum to bring the ICRC’s experience and perspective working through similar challenges to reinforce the Bank’s efforts addressing fragility, conflict and violence (FCV).
Select panels at the Fragility Forum will be live-streamed on World Bank Live and @ICRC_DC will be live-tweeting the Opening Plenary discussion and the panel titled “At the Nexus of Peacebuilding, Development and Humanitarian Response: Bridging the Gaps for More Effective Engagement in Fragile Situations.” Follow along with the hashtags #FragilityForum18 #dev4peace.
