ICRC in Washington is hiring Assistant to the Armed Forces/IHL Delegates

Minimum required knowledge & experience:

  • Requiring Undergraduate education or specialized technical training
  • 2 +  year’s experience in the International Relations field
  • Excellent business English and French a plus
  • Very good computer skills

Function description:

  • Assistant to the Senior Regional Delegate to the Armed Forces and the Delegate to the Armed Forces
  • Assistant to the IHL Department
  • Secretarial duties
  •  Filing clerk
  • In charge of ordering publications as needed (books, magazines, periodicals ect…) for the FAS and IHL departments

JOB DESCRIPTION

 Assistant to the Senior Regional Delegate to the Armed Forces and the Delegate to the Armed Forces:

  • Contact person during absence of delegates;
  • Follow up of ASF projects;
  • Organization of presentations, briefings and seminars;
  • Attend specific events, briefings and draft report/MoM
  • Correspondence and contacts with liaison officers and interlocutors;
  • Follow-up of administrative tasks linked to the budget;
  • Management of delegates' schedule
  • Assist in preparing power point presentations.
  • Secretarial duties:
  • In/out correspondence with GVA, ICRC delegations and interlocutors;
  • Drafting and typing of texts, official letters on PC in English;
  • Drafting of various ASF reports (monthly report and statistics to GVA), WOR, QIR;
  • Coordination of travel arrangements and engagements of ASF delegates;
  • Management of ASF data base of interlocutors and activities.
  • Management of ASF mailing list 

Filing clerk:

  • Management of ASF stock of publications/documents/videos;
  •  Press cuttings;
  • Filing of documents, publications and books;
  • Dispatching of ASF reference documents and ICRC publications to delegations and interlocutors.

Assistant to the IHL Department:

 Administrative Support

  • Contact person during absence of delegates;
  • Correspondence and contacts with interlocutors;
  • In/out correspondence with GVA, ICRC delegations and interlocutors;
  • Management of database of interlocutors (Big Contact)
  • Management mailing lists
  • Follow-up of administrative tasks linked to the budget;
  • Management of delegates' schedule
  • Reimbursements claims
  • Coordination of travel arrangements and engagements
  • Management of publications (ex. book orders)
  • Electronic and paper filing

Events, Reporting, Research

  • Attend specific events, briefings and draft report/MoM
  • Contribution to reporting (ex. WOR)
  • Assist in preparing power point presentations.
  • Non legal research (ex. news items related to IHL)
