From the field - First hand account of the situation in Al Houleh, Syria

Exceptional first hand account of the situation prevailing in the Al Houleh plain by ICRC head of delegation Marianne Gasser.

Ms. Gasser has headed our delegation in Syria - where the ICRC remains the only international humanitarian organization active in the field - for the past three years.

Earlier this week, she led an ICRC-Syrian Arab Red Crescent team that delivered emergency relief to over 5,000 persons. They had fled Taldaw, where scores of civilians were killed on the night of May 25th. Most of the displaced are women and children and in need of everything.

Ms. Gasser describes an increasingly worrying humanitarian situation across Syria, where hundreds are injured, killed, displaced and detained.
