Brothers All - Aspects of recent activities of the ICRC from 1948 to 1952
Happy New Year! And here is another archival nugget to end 2011.
Brothers All - Aspects of recent activities of the ICRC from 1948 to 1952 is a rarely seen documentary short featuring footage shot by ICRC and UN cameramen.
Quaint narration and operatic strings aside, Brothers All is an important historical document. It shows an ICRC active on multiple fronts in the aftermath of World War II, its legitimacy and ability to operate strenghtened by the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
Adapting its action to the realities of the Cold War, the organization sends relief and delegates to occupied Berlin, Greece, Israel and the Palestinian Territories, India, Indonesia, Indochina and Korea, exemplifying humanity, the core principle that still drives our operations today.
Thanks for visiting and see you next year.
