9/11 to Syria:The Evolution of Armed Conflict and Humanitarian Action A discussion with Pierre Krähenbühl, ICRC Director of Operations, and Michael IgnatieffFriday, December 6 at 2:00 pm Board of Governors Hall American Red Cross National Headquarters 430 17th NW, Washington DC  

Over the past 12 years, Mr. Krähenbühl has been in-charge of the ICRC's operations worldwide, including Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Colombia, and Somalia, as well as our humanitarian-related activities linked to US detention. He has also led senior-level negotiations with a wide range of governments, armed forces, and non-State armed groups to secure access to populations caught up in conflicts across the globe.

Mr. Ignatieff, former Liberal Party leader in the Canadian government, now holds academic posts at the University of Toronto and Harvard University. He has written extensively on international affairs, including a series of articles on the ICRC.

 Following the conversation, there will be Q&A for both Mr. Krähenbühl and Mr. Ignatieff. We hope you can join us for this very exciting event.
